We had the pleasure of testing out one of the more luxurious camper van rental companies, Van Craft. We had heard great things about Van Craft, and saw that they were one of few rental companies that really had all the bells and whistles in their vans. We had to see what the hype was all about.

Many campervan rental companies have the necessities in their vans such as a bed, storage, a stove, a fridge, and a sink with running water(you’re lucky if it’s not a hand pump sink). Then there’s Van Craft who has just about everything you can think off. Here are some of the features:

  • Solar panels to provide complete off the grid power
  • Sink with an electric pump to provide running water
  • Outdoor shower with hot water heater
  • Propane stove and oven
  • Roof vent fan
  • Canopy
  • Fridge
  • Passenger seat swivels to face the rear
  • Extra bench for sitting
  • Closet
  • Rooftop tent to accommodate 2 more people
  • LED lights with a dimmer
  • Pitch black window covers that also act as insulation
  • Tons of storage space

We had a great experience testing out one of Van Craft’s vans. The layout and features of their vans are incredibly well thought out and perfect for someone renting or buying (they have sold a few to rental customers). This provides people looking to convert their own van in the future with good layout ideas and a realistic view of van life.

For some, having all the bells and whistles is not necessary when renting a van. But if you’re looking to buy or convert your own van someday, you want to try out all the bells and whistles. By renting a van that has it all, you can easily figure out what’s important to you and what features need to go into your future conversion. I would recommend testing out a basic camper van as well – it can give you a different perspective on what’s important.

The cost to rent a van from Van Craft is about $200 per day (price gets lower the longer you rent) with unlimited miles for both the long van (fits up to 8 people) or short van (fits up to 4 people). For the features you get and the number of people accommodatable, this is a great deal.

Van Craft is located in Oceanside, CA which is about an hour and a half south of Los Angeles. This is a perfect location to rent a van, however, this is their only location so your road trip will need to loop back.
